Great strategy needs exceptional execution. That’s how vision becomes real, measurable results.

Lucila Lessard

For me, operations has never been about processes for their own sake. It’s about creating the structure that allows great people to do their best work, founders to lead with confidence, and businesses to grow without losing what made them special in the first place.

Over the past twenty years, I’ve partnered with founders through periods of growth, change, and reinvention. Whatever the work looks like, my role is consistent:

  • Launching new initiatives and getting them operating cleanly.
  • Untangling operational complexity so teams move faster with less friction.
  • Leading technology migrations end to end.
  • Building the systems, accountability, and structure that run quietly in the background.

I bring clarity where there’s confusion, create structure where there’s complexity, and help move the business forward with confidence.

Every business has a different story.

One of the things I love most about this work is that every founder has different strengths, different challenges, and a different vision for what they’re trying to build. I don’t believe in forcing businesses into someone else’s playbook. I believe in understanding what makes each business unique and helping build the operational foundation that allows it to thrive.

I’ve learned that growth rarely creates problems—it simply reveals the ones that have been quietly waiting beneath the surface.

As businesses become more successful, leadership, systems, communication, and accountability all matter more than they did before. My work is helping founders strengthen those foundations before complexity begins to slow them down.

What clients tell me they value most.

Clients often tell me one of the things they value most is that I bring calm to challenging situations. I naturally become more focused when things feel uncertain, and I enjoy untangling complicated problems until the path forward becomes clear. There’s something deeply rewarding about watching a founder go from feeling overwhelmed to feeling confident again because the business finally has the structure and support it needs.

I also believe trust is earned through consistency. When I tell someone something is handled, I want them to know they don’t have to think about it again. One of my favorite moments is when a new system launches and nobody notices—because everything simply works.

Quiet success is still success.

Twenty years building trust.

For more than twenty years, I’ve had the privilege of building businesses alongside Mary. Our partnership works because we’ve never tried to do the same job. Mary naturally sees possibilities, understands customers, and helps founders envision what’s next. I enjoy taking those ideas and building the systems, accountability, and operational structure that make them real. Together, we’ve spent two decades helping businesses become not only more profitable, but healthier, more sustainable, and more rewarding to lead.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, spending time on the water with my husband, hosting friends and family, and finding simple ways to slow down and recharge. Those moments remind me that the strongest businesses, like the strongest relationships, are built on trust, consistency, and showing up for people over time.

My hope for every client.

That the business finally feels steady enough to grow into what the founder imagined—and that they never have to wonder whether things are handled.

At Heartwood, that’s exactly the kind of partnership I hope every client experiences.

We work with founder-led businesses to become more profitable, more scalable, and fun to lead again.
